Benefits of Genetically Modified Organisms: To begin to answer the big question, we should consider the benefits to GMOs and what may be a factor in the lax regulation of modified organisms by the American government.
•Medicine: Modified organisms seem to display an effective role in American medicines.
•Genetically altered animals: Animals can now be genetically modified in order for scientist to further research about diseases, create pharmaceutical products and grow tissue implants (Goldbas). In other words, by altering genes in an animal, scientist can use what they’ve created as a treatment or prevention technique for humans. For example, the…
•“First human biological drug…”: This drug involved genetically engineered goat milk used to prevent blood clots during childbirth and surgery
•.Human Gene Therapy: Doctors can also now genetically modify viruses as well, which can be used to alleviate pain in patients with heart diseases, Parkinson's disease and cancer.
•Plants & Food: Modified organisms have also had seemingly positive effects on our plants and food.
•Developing countries: Although America is not a developing country, we can further see how GMOs can bee looked at in a positive light.
